This was a first quick attempt at stitchign this image together from four 8 megapixel photos. I like the shot so I wanted to post it – but I think another better version will be coming soon.

Yosemite

***I left very early this morning
on what was to be my first ski trip of the season – the plan was to cross-country ski out Glacier Point Road.

That’s not quite what happened. I drove through Yosemite Valley and was reassured to see snow at the 6000′ level and above. I headed up to the Glacier Point Road… only to find it closed! I guess they don’t open it until Badger Pass opens up in a few more weeks. Darn!

In any case, I spent the day in Yosemite Valley. I’ll post some photos later, but for now I will say that the Valley is actually very beautiful this time of year.

Still no skiing

This was supposed to be the day for my first quick trip to the Sierra for a bit of cross-country skiing. But too much grading and curriculum revision have interfered. Instead I’ll satisfy myself (sort of, and only for now… ;-) with a couple of morning hikes at Almaden Quicksilver Park.
