Back from Yosemite

I had time for a rather quick Yosemite trip this weekend. I left around noon on Saturday and arrived in the park just as the very clouds from the earlier storm were clearing.

For those who are interested in such things, this photograph is assembled from four 8-megapixel images. Because of foreground trees, the “best” spot for taking a photo from this famous Yosemite Valley overlook at the end of Wawona tunnel is about 6 feet wide and perhaps 3 feet high. Too far to the right or left and foreground trees obscure the valley, especially Bridalveil Fall. More than half a dozen photographers were squeezing into this small space when I took this photo.

Today I hit the Glacier Point cross-country ski track early enough to get out to Sentinel Dome. I had hoped to get all the way to Glacier Point but I hit my “turn around time” before I got there – and I’m pretty religious about not pushing it when I’m travelling solo. I did not take a single picture – too busy skiing!

Could it be?

An actual ski trip this weekend? I may get away for a quick cross-country ski trip in Yosemite. If it works out… yay!
