easily my FAVORITE shot of yours to date. Really a nice symmetry (sp) between the fog & the clouds. Excellent black and white (polarizer? Almost as if you had a red filter (in the world of “film)). Otherworldly comes to mind…! Fantastic
Hi Jeff:
It was great to meet you at your show at Monsieur Bean in Willow Glen. My wife and I were just there again today and admiring you prints.
Thanks for your comment on the Diablo photo. That was a truly amazing morning, climbing out of the fog to this 2000+ foot ridge just after dawn, to find that there were (rare for SF Bay area, especially in the morning) beautiful clouds overhead.
I did use a polarizer for this shot. The “red filter effect” (familiar to those of us who actually shot BW film in the old days) is intentional. In addition to using the polarizing filter, I used the Photoshop channel mixer to build the image mostly out of the red channel – the PS equivalent to using the red filter.
Levels had to be adjusted separately for the upper and lower portions of the image, especially to bring out some detail in the tops of the very bright fog bank.
I’ll bet it will be a long tiime before I see another morning like that on Mission Peak.
Dan
